While I have anticipated this possibility for some time, now that it seems to be a reality, I must face the fact that the hours in my days will have to be drastically rearranged. What to give up, what to scale back? Surely, I can't keep up all the things I've been doing at the same pace, which truth be told, I haven't even been able to keep up with the demands I place on myself as it is. While I contemplate how to manage two shops, whether to merge them, whether the "dailies" become a weekly digest, etc. etc., you can peruse the latest daily drawings and perhaps head on over to MissouriBendStudio or MissouriBendMusings where I'm having major spring cleaning sales with a 20% discount on all the work in both shops! The sale goes on through April, as I hope to pare down the amount of work I have piled high down in the studio. I look forward shipping pieces out to loving homes....please stop by and take a look to see if anything strikes your fancy!!! Perhaps a little enticement....including tomorrow's drawing already done since we'll be gone all day on a fun little field trip!

Enjoy your weekend and I'll see you at the beginning of the week, maybe with some things resolved.
Thank you all for the continued support and a warm welcome to the newest followers here!
Happy weekend to you too! Love these drawings.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Carole...always happy to hear that the drawings bring cheer to my friends here!
DeletePatti, if it is any consolation, I seemed to make quality time for my art when I was working full time. I made every spare moment count. Looking at and loving the pieces in this post, I really hope you make the time to continue your beautiful art. This too could be a learning experience and a catalyst for new directions other than the obvious. Wishing you all the best for your new job. (I worked in the university library for years and it gave me many opportunities to "study" art as well as the determination to find the right market for my work .... which I did)
ReplyDeleteRobyn, I actually spent 25 years working at the library at the art school I attended in Florida....until I moved to South Dakota. Since then I've only worked very part-time or not at all, so this new job will take me back to my old way of working....and you are right, somehow the time unfolds and I will no doubt find plenty of time for working....this time without the stress of having to justify it in the marketplace! Aren't libraries the most wonderful places? I spent all those years as a cataloger in an academic art school library....is there anything better!?! Thanks for your encouragement and cheers to you!
DeleteI keep coming back and looking at these beautiful little treasures Patti. I am looking forward to receiving mine soon, though am already thinking that a couple more may be in order! Has anyone bought April 3rd and April 7th yet????? please let me know as I may need to hold more of these gorgeous fragments.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, so pleased you are smitten with these pieces! Almost all the pieces are still available in my shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/missouribendmusings) and certainly these latest are available! Remember the coupon code to have 20% off!!
DeletePatti, wishing you all the best with the changes you are making! Working in a library sounds wonderful actually :) In a way, maybe it is a little like going back to school with all the access to inspiring books? And time for people watch(?), doodling, contemplations, which I cannot at my work in a kindergarten :(
ReplyDeleteI just made a treasury featuring one of your works here (my favourite). Happy Easter holidays. x
Hi Erin...library is a wonderful place to work....somehow it feels as if you absorb the knowledge and wisdom of all those books (along with all the newer media) as it circulates freely in the air. Of course, behind the scenes, libraries are very busy places and no one who works there has time to enjoy the books! My whole working life has been in libraries....they are quite magical! Thanks for your comment and I look forward to seeing that treasury....thank you!
DeleteI love books. I live near a huge book store that has a library feel to it. I like to just wander the isles, looking at the row after row of topics. They have used books too and you never know what unusual book you might find. I hope you enjoy your new job!!!
ReplyDeleteThank Marchi....you are so lucy to live near such a bookstore!!! I love bookstores too....the history of civilization lies in those shelves! Thanks for your warm wishes for my new venture....libraries are my second home!
DeleteCongratulations Patti - and for all the good things it will bring. You are n artist and will find ways to make art that is meaningful and beautiful; and we look forward to your offerings, however frequently; however sized...Go well, F
ReplyDeleteFiona...many thanks! I know I'll continue to make art...as I did all those years working full time. We'll see how things develop....thanks for all your continued support and warm cheer!
DeletePatti - the dailies are all lovely, but I was especially struck by April 3rd with the little tally marks - was this a reflection of your days of freedom counting down? I too am smitten with this particular piece.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your achieving new balance. I know you can do it! All will fall into place and be as it ought to be.
Gabriella....you are next!!! The library is calling us both back! Those little tally marks could be counting down days...or they could mark my return to the library world....they come from my years of counting the cataloged books for my monthly statistics....tally marks on a sheet of paper....so old fashioned a way of counting, but so visually interesting and full of possibility! Cheers!
DeleteHah! I've been away from library work long enough that I forgot all about the little marks tabulating library stats! This is a much better use of them, I think!
DeleteNo easy matter-- rearranging schedules and figuring out what to let go of. The important thing is to keep working-- as I'm sure you will Patti!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new job and surrounding yourself with books once again and I'm loving the pieces above-- the delicacy of the marks and surfaces are so stirring.
best wishes!
Kathi....thanks for your kind words! Still working out how to keep doing what I'm doing, but scaling things back a bit...we'll just have to see what I can manage. I'm so glad you like these latest daily drawings....I'm still enjoying the surprise that comes out each day in the drawing! Have a great week.
DeleteJust wanted to add my voice to your well-wishers for a surge of positive energy as you start this new/old venture. Balance is key. We ask such inhumane things of ourselves at times. I imagine that doing ANYthing you enjoy will invest your art with a clarity of presence. At least that is what I wish for you.
ReplyDeleteLorraine, thank you for your warm wishes. I love that phrase...a clarity of presence....it does require balance and it is really my goal....always a work in progress. Best wishes to you!
