Greetings, hope you've had a nice start to the week! Since I work on Saturday, my weekend is Sunday and Monday and I'm still trying to get used to it. Today was the end of my weekend, most of which I spent pulling daisies out of every nook and cranny in the big garden bed in the back. What a weed!!! Now, we can finally see what else is there and rethink the whole thing and how we want to fill it in. The daisies aren't all gone quite yet, but give me another session and I'll have every trace of them removed....I say that so confidently, knowing full well that they will continue to pop up here and there for an eternity! But, beyond the daisy pulling, other tasks were accomplished and soon we'll be able to actually plant the tomatoes, squash and pumpkins out in the other bed...along with a few other items, yet to be determined. We never quite know what we're doing, but we learn a little more each season, which is mostly a question of not over planting. This year we planted two apple trees and have carved out a little more space for other edibles, so I'm excited to get things in the ground. That's outside....here's the report from inside the studio....dailies for MissouriBendMusings and 2 new pieces for MissouriBendStudio.

Timeless Words (not yet listed)
I am still pondering the imponderable....wondering how it is that I am now working 30 hours a week (plus travel time to and fro) and I have time to be in the studio, work in the garden and also to read, which I never seemed to before. It's still a mystery, as I'm not sure that I can give myself credit for being more efficient, but I must have stopped doing the things that were irrelevant. Anyway, life is good....I'll take any moments of contentment I can!! Have a great week and thanks for reading the posts here....always great to hear from you.
Your work makes my eyes happy!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you finding the energy and inspiration to create the time to create...best world.
Thank you so much for your warm wishes! And I am delighted to hear that these pieces bring any amount of happiness...it is the highest compliment!!! Thank you for your comment!
DeleteGlad to hear.....life is good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work as always.
Thanks so much Carole...great to hear from you across the miles! Hope you have a good week.
DeleteI've just recently found your blog, and must say I am completely in love with your daily drawings. The handmade paper is truly a treat, with the tears along some edges adding to the perfection. There is something about the mystery of time in your work that draws one in. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth...welcome! So glad you found me and I am delighted to hear the daily drawings are appreciated. The daily drawings are almost always on used teabags mounted on bristol board, but most of my other work is on handmade paper. I've run out of teabags again, alas, so time to go buy some more and make LOTS of ice tea! I'm also very gratified to hear that there is a sense of mystery around time in the work.....it is one of the many threads that interest me, so I'm happy to hear it is coming through in some way. Thanks for your comment and great to meet you!
DeleteP-love the dailies as always. Yes it is a mystery - some times the busier we become the more judicious we are of our time and therefore make sure we use it on the aspects of life we treasure - well done you to be using it so well and creating so well. B
ReplyDeleteThank you Barry....funny how I thought I was being more judicious before, but obviously when pressed for time, one chooses what seems more valuable! Always a treat to hear from you! Best wishes!
DeleteJust love what I see...simply gorgeous!

Sue, I'm honored by the high compliment! Thank you so much!
DeleteI too am new to your blog and love your paper work. It would be fun to jump into your mind as you work these to see how the thoughts come to you. Sometimes we get more done when we think we have less time - as you said its probably a feature of focusing more with fewer hours.
ReplyDeleteHi Penny....welcome to the blog!! Glad you took time to leave a comment here. I have to say, these drawings somehow don't come from my head so much as my hand. I really have no idea what will happen when I put the pen or pencil to the paper....my hand moves and I just respond to what happens on the page....sometimes it flows and it makes me happy and other times, it's a salvage operation!!! I also find it is often the ones that I'm not so keen on that others respond to in a much more positive way. It's a process, that's for sure!
DeleteHey Patti - great to see the dailies are holding; and that you are enjoying the processes too! There's that old adage about if you want something done ask a busy person, perhaps time expands somehow? Go well F
ReplyDeleteLate to the party as usual, but did want to put in some sort of appearance! I now see the visual proof of what you mentioned here already and in your letter that somehow having less time is leading to better studio work! Particularly liking May 4...
ReplyDeleteGabriella....the good thing about the "inter-webby thing" (quoting Fiona of course!) is that the party continues on indefinitely....you are never late and always great to hear from you! May 4th is on my own "hit" list as well! Thanks so much!
