May!

Welcome to the first week of May....kind of hard to believe it, actually. The way the garden looks right now, you'd think it was early June....the irises are in full bloom and the peonies are about to open already! I hope it's a nice long summer....with no disasters to befall anyone. I hesitate to invoke last year's flooding along the Missouri, but we are thankful we don't have to repeat that episode this year! Now that I'm working, life is full of new experiences, new ways of doing things and my circuits are nearly overloaded. But, the dailies continue....a nice way of balancing and keeping things from spiraling quite so freely out of control! I'll share the newest of the dailies from MissouriBendMusings and a piece I added to the MissouriBendStudio shop last week, along with a couple amazing views of the clouds last evening just about sunset....beautiful!

  1. Wow Patti-- with your new work schedule you're still managing to be wonderfully productive-- and each of your pieces above are exquisite. I'm drawn in and delighted by the simple and complex duality that coexists in your work. Congrats on continuing onward with such focus-- sometimes having less time to make what we love inspires us all the more. ( i think we tend to use our time more efficiently.. does that seem so? )
and I love your irises! beautiful-- happy early Spring!

    1. Thanks so much Kathi! I do think there is something that spurs us on when there is less time....more focus is certainly required. Hope I can continue with this rhythm....I do love those irises and will be sad to see their blooming come to an end!

  2. Hi Patti - lovely to see your musings for the week. I particularly like the ancient script and am trying to resist at the moment. Seem to have been on a spending spree lately ...... tis beautiful though. Spring has certainly arrived in your corner of the world and here I sit in the hills overlooking the ocean, the days are shorter and the evenings are given over to firelight. Not necessary yet really but who can resist ..... Enjoy your weekend too. x ps is that lake your view?

    1. So glad you like these pieces Susan! I love autumn, as well as spring and imagine that by the time it arrives here, we will be eagerly looking forward to it! The view is from our backyard looking east-southeast down the Missouri River. It was an unusually quiet evening with no wind. We live on the plains in the midwest and it is often very windy. The MIssouri is a beautiful river and we are happy to live right on its banks...of course, last summer there were flooding issues, but that's another story! Thanks again for the wonderful comment!

  4. P-the dailies always look such fun but at the same time I bet that it takes a fertile mind to come up with such variation - all simple but beautiful. Love the ancient text. And nature outdoes us with the light and colour. Thanks for sharing. Go well. B

    1. Barry....yes, somehow those dailies seem to know what to do with themselves! Even when I get in the way and they start off on the wrong foot, if I listen closely I can usually save them! Isn't the light amazing in the river photos....sometimes you look up in astonishment at the light hitting the trees and the water! Cheers!

  5. Like others Patti - I think the dailies are proving to be such valuable and beautiful work. I'm glad they are anchoring you and offering you as much as they offer us. The river and the light are superb. Don't you just love stopping and staring and revelling in the wonder of it all?? Go well F
