Tomorrow I'm going on a field trip....to the big city of Omaha! Remember that all things are relative and when you live on the outskirts of a town of 10,000, Omaha, with a population in the hundreds of thousands, is the big city! I'm delivering the two Nocturne pieces, now beautifully framed, to the
Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts for the Regional Juried Exhibition, which means that a visit to my favorite used bookstore, Jackson Street Books is an absolute must. I'm going solo because my husband has a commitment up at the University, so I will go with my own flow and peruse the books until I am quite delirious. Then on to Whole Foods where grocery shopping is a delight rather than another chore to get through. Two hours of driving down and two hours of driving back, I'll have to make the most of it....oh, almost forgot to include a stop at Dick Blick for a few art supplies on my list....a busy day for me tomorrow, but I am sorely in need of a break and am looking forward to a change of scene. I don't know when I'm going to fit the daily drawing in, but somewhere, somehow it will get done!
Hope you have something interesting planned for the weekend....see you in a couple of days!
I'm so in love with these daily drawings, especially when there's a little burst of intense color. Have fun in Omaha! I drew a deep sigh when I read the trip included a Whole Foods AND a Dick Blick.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim! Often times the color changes a few times before it's finished....today's flowers started out yellow, but it's really difficult to make yellow work on the teabag....mostly it disappears and then the flowers announced that they wanted to be red! Why didn't they just tell me that at the beginning, that's what I want to know! You understand small town life....a real bookstore, Dick Blick AND Whole Foods, well it's almost more than I can bear!!! Pathetic.
DeleteHave fun in the big city! I suggest you don't do your daily drawing while you're driving! :)
ReplyDeleteGood advice Carole! I snuck that drawing in late the night before. It was a fun day!
DeleteLove them,so pure.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks....purity is a lovely compliment!
DeleteHow well I relate to your excitement over a trip to town and the simple sweet visits you have planned. My weekend? Seeing my old high school friend after 3 years and an international airflight with her to Costa Rica!! Why am I on the computer? Waiting for the rest of the household to wake up so we can get going.
ReplyDeleteLove your latest teabag art Patti. I love the surprise of each Variation on a Theme.
Well, you ARE on an adventure!!! Can't wait to hear about the trip! So glad you like these dailies....there does seem to be an endless variation....I'm sure they will evolve over time....remains to be seen just how! Safe travels!
DeleteI'm even excited about your trip to the city! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteRobyn....such a simple, little thing but a treat nonetheless! Thanks for your good wishes!
Deletethese little pieces are fine, indeed.
ReplyDeleteVelma....thank you so much!!
DeleteLove your description of the ultimate daytrip! Hope all went well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gabriella....all went well! I allow myself one purchase at the bookshop, but can never linger as long as I'd like....it's too overwhelming and chaotic and the cataloger in me wants to put things in a bit more order! Cheers!
