I've just got a few minutes here, before I head into town to go to my one-afternoon-a-week job, performing librarianesque duties at the National Music Museum in Vermillion (now, that's something to Google...it's world reknowned collection of musical instruments...right here in Vermillion, South Dakota!). So, I'm off soon, but thought I'd share the resolution of the piece I posted several days ago, Page from The Book of Open Windows. A bit of randomness here and there and it announced itself finished and allowed me to move on to the following piece...a bit more subdued, but still, I do like it...a page from The Book of Counting Days (complete with detail shot below).
Hope you are having a good week....so far, so good for me. Back into the studio tomorrow for more fun, merriment and a good dose of angst!
These are good works, Patti. I like this direction you are taking. I am almost willing to set aside my deep envy at your working in that awesome library once a week and think only good thoughts for you! By the way, studio time as Fun, Merriment and a Good Dose of Angst says it perfectly - should be a sign on the door, followed by Enter At Your Own Risk!
ReplyDeleteYour titles intrigue me and I was pleasantly surprised by the strips of script when zooming in for a closer look. The back of the open windows piece is exciting. Both sides are beautiful in different ways. Love you Book of counting days.
ReplyDeleteId love to visit in your studio Patti... what treausre I feel one would find there.
ReplyDeletehave a great week..Im disappearing for a bit to get through mountains of tasks...
back before long!

Gabriella...believe me, I'd rather be in the studio...angst or no angst! Glad you like the work! Hope you get lots done and can make lots of sales to appreciative buyers!!!
ReplyDeleteRobyn...titles are interesting. It's really a kind of naming and the piece always seems to tell me as I'm working what it's name is. I too like the back of that open window piece, like a hidden and wild personality inside a timid soul! Thanks for your comment.
ReplyDeleteSophie...hope you get lots done! Would love to have you stop by the studio (!!!)...let me know when you're in the area (LOL)...perhaps I'll post a few photos in the meantime. Nice to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteOh, these are BEAUTIFUL, especially all together like this!
ReplyDeleteAnd how about this: my husband I drove RIGHT THROUGH VERMILLION on our big cross-country trip this past summer. Not only did we miss you but we missed the opportunity to see all those INSTRUMENTS. Sigh.
It's wonderful to see so many beautiful pieces appearing Patti - you are really onto something with this series I think (from the proud owner of the page from the book of blue!). The hints of text will always grab me as a mysterious expression or understanding; and the stitching is beautiful front and back.
ReplyDeleteLily...rats....I started following your blog just as you were starting out on your summer trek...and of course, didn't think about you traveling right through Vermillion! Next time you are passing through (LOL) we'll coordinate! I know you are enjoying your time in India (for the most part!), as are your readers! Thanks for your kind words!
ReplyDeleteFiona, thanks so much. Yes, it seems that the book page is a perfect vehicle for a great deal of exploration. I'm so connected to the book, but don't necessarily feel the need to create books, that is, more than one page...I am more about the still image. This seems so old fashioned in a day when folks can't seem to concentrate on anything that isn't accompanied by flickering light and a moving image. I'm sure the book is here to stay!
